Marketing Communications Coordinator
South Carolina Aquarium
The Marketing Communications Coordinator supports the development and execution of integrated communications that strengthen audience engagement, support organizational priorities and advance the Aquarium’s mission. This role serves as a communications partner to key functional areas, including Membership and Advancement, while leading day-to-day management of the Aquarium’s email communications platform.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative and detail-oriented, with strong writing, project management and analytical skills. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinate and produce cross-functional communications and use performance insights to refine strategy and improve engagement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external partners
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as MailChimp or similar systems
- Understanding of marketing and communications best practice across owned channels
- Ability to analyze performance data and apply insights to improve engagement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with analytics, content management and project management tools preferred
- Basic photography and videography content skills preferred
- Demonstrates curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to learn, grow and apply feedback in a collaborative environment
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of or interest in conservation, environmental issues or related fields preferred
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Experience working in a nonprofit a plus, but not required
Salary: $44,000 – $50,000 Annually
