Director of Programs
Tree Boston
Tree Boston is seeking a passionate, motivated, and creative individual committed to environmental justice and tree equity as its Director of Programs (DP).
The DP will direct, manage, and oversee the organization’s education and tree planting programs. As a member of the Leadership Team, the DP will report directly to the Executive Director and will supervise program directors in Tree Planting and Education.
Job responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of programs, establishing and capturing metrics for program assessment on a monthly basis, improving and adjusting current programs, developing new programs, facilitating collaboration across the organization, and ensuring programs and projects are on schedule and on budget. In addition, they will support efforts to seek opportunities and partnerships for programs through ongoing collaboration with the city, community groups, residents, and local community-based organizations.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience managing programs and staff.
- Knowledge or experience around issues of environmental justice, tree equity, urban forestry, and/or urban ecology.
- Experience or education in the fields of environmental science, arboriculture, and/or nonprofit management.
- Past work or lived experience in Boston preferred but not required.

- Strong project and team management skills.
- Commitment to tree equity and environmental justice.
- Organized and attentive to detail.
- Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
- Experience in Google Workspace and Asana project management or similar platforms.
- Preference for language proficiency in one or more non-English languages spoken in Boston.
Salary: $80,000 – $95,000/year

The position is currently hybrid: the Director of Programs is to work from the office 3 days per week and remotely 2 days per week.
