Outdoor Learning Coordinator

The Coordinator of Outdoor Learning is an instructional leader and member of the Teaching and Learning Living Building Team, responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum-aligned outdoor learning experiences that support Henrico County Public Schools’ Environmental Education Living Building (EELB) programming.
In collaboration with the Environmental Science Education Specialist, the Coordinator designs and delivers standards-aligned outdoor instruction, supports teachers in implementing outdoor learning, provides professional development, and promotes equitable access to meaningful, place-based learning experiences. The Coordinator also provides direct student instruction, models effective instructional practices, and supports the integration of environmental literacy across content areas.
The Coordinator works closely with the Varina Center for Environmental Studies and Sustainability (VCESS) Specialty Center Director to coordinate facility use and programming that supports both school and division priorities. The position may also develop and deliver instructional programming beyond scheduled Living Building experiences.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must hold a valid VDOE teaching license with an endorsement in a science‑related field, including Middle Education 6–8 Science, Biology, or Earth and Space Science, or an endorsement in Agriculture Education or Elementary Education PreK–6.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience in a K-12 educational or outdoor learning setting required.
- Experience providing direct instruction to students in classroom, outdoor, field-based, or experiential learning environments.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and community partners to support student learning.
Minimum Salary: $74,942
