Position Summary:
Aloha Tree Alliance (ATA) seeks a dynamic, creative, and mission-driven Education & Community Manager to lead youth and community education programs, strengthen relationships with the communities we serve, and expand opportunities for people to connect with and care for Hawaiʻi’s forests and watersheds.
This role is ideal for a passionate environmental educator, community builder and communicator who can translate ATA’s work into meaningful experiences and compelling narratives. Through hands-on programs, community events, partnerships, and digital communications, the Education & Community Manager will help diverse audiences—from students and families to volunteers, educators, partners, and supporters—understand the importance of environmental stewardship and see themselves as part of the work.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will divide its time among developing and managing ATA’s education programs (K-12 programming & internships), cultivating community participation and partnerships, and leading the organization’s communications strategy. The role requires strong organizational, facilitation, and writing skills; an engaging and adaptable communication style; cultural sensitivity and respect for Native Hawaiian values; a collaborative approach to developing content and curricula with colleagues and community partners; and comfort working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Environmental Studies, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in education, nonprofit outreach, or communications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media and digital content creation.
- Skilled in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, Mailchimp, and WordPress (or willingness to learn).
- Experience with social media analytics and campaign strategy is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Exhibits strong project management skills, able to balance multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working outdoors in rugged terrain and varying weather.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for community events and volunteer workdays.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance.
- Team player who genuinely lives aloha.
Compensation: $28.00/Hourly
