Environmental Educator

Eatonton GA


Inspire young people through experiential outdoor learning with the Rock Eagle Environmental Education Program! Located adjacent to the Oconee National Forest, Rock Eagle expands the walls of the classroom for hundreds of schools and thousands of students. Enthusiastic, creative, and motivated seasonal instructors are needed each spring and fall to teach science and outdoor education classes (including lake ecology, herpetology, Native American studies, orienteering, canoeing and challenge course) to 3rd through 12th graders and assist with animal care, with the potential for high ropes course and other curriculum certifications.

Located in Eatonton, Georgia the Rock Eagle 4-H Center can accommodate up to 600 students for a three-day program. The program runs Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work. We are looking for enthusiastic people with a genuine interest in child development.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree is required in Education, Natural Science, Environmental Education, Biology, Forestry, Outdoor Education, or related fields preferred. Commitment, genuine interest in working with children, creativity, flexibility, well developed communication skills, and leadership ability.

Dates Needed:
Spring season - February through May.
Fall Season - August through December.

Salary:
The salary will be $8.95/hr (includes a limited insurance policy). Housing is provided for $40/week.

Other Opportunities:
Seasonal Staff may also visit and stay overnight for free at 4 other Georgia 4-H Centers. Fortson 4-H Center is located south of Atlanta. Wahsega 4-H Center is located in the North Georgia Mountains. Burton 4-H Center is on the Atlantic Coast near Savannah on Tybee Island. Jekyll Island is also on the Atlantic Coast near Brunswick, GA.
